Co-ops for Climate
Co-ops for Climate empowers MFU members who have organized, or are currently in the process of organizing, themselves into cooperatives. The program provides funds for technical assistance and business development for cooperatives to engage in climate solutions, building capacity and advancing cooperative models for the future.

Green Ammonia and Fertilizer Production
Many MFU members have stressed the importance of alternative and stable input markets. Nitrogen fertilizer, a key input for many farmers, is not only a significant contributor of GHG emissions worldwide, but the market is notoriously volatile, unpredictable and heavily concentrated. That's why we're working with partners to support the development of green ammonia, which can be locally produced, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and offers farmers the opportunity to have more control over key agricultural inputs through cooperative ownership.
Climate-Smart Commodities Working Group
The Minnesota Climate-Smart Commodities Working Group coordinates efforts and shares information on current projects and developments in the climate-smart agriculture space. Collaborating with public and private stakeholders is essential to ensuring that farmers across the state benefit from new programs and initiatives. The Working Group is coordinated in partnership with Minnesota Milk, Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative and The Nature Conservancy.
