Climate & Working Lands
The climate is changing, and MFU members are developing systems to remain resilient while contributing to climate action. The Climate and Working Lands Program elevates farmer leadership on climate action, from on-farm practices to renewable energy and more.
Climate Resilience on the Farm

Cooperatives for Climate
Cooperatives for Climate empowers MFU members who have organized, or are currently in the process of organizing, themselves into cooperatives. The program provides funds for technical assistance and business development for cooperatives to engage in climate solutions, building capacity and advancing cooperative models for the future.

Green Ammonia and Fertilizer Production
Many MFU members have stressed the importance of alternative and stable input markets. Nitrogen fertilizer, a key input for many farmers, is not only a significant contributor of GHG emissions worldwide, but the market is notoriously volatile, unpredictable and heavily concentrated. That's why we're working with partners to support the development of green ammonia, which can be locally produced, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and offers farmers the opportunity to have more control over key agricultural inputs through cooperative ownership.
Conservation Advisor Spotlight
The Conservation Advisor Spotlight is a series created to celebrate the work that Minnesota farmer advisors do to provide technical assistance that advances conservation efforts on the land. Each article gives a taste of the farm advisors' background, advising style, and areas of expertise. The advisors come from public and private organizations across the state, and they specialize in a range of topics including cover crops, grazing, farm business management, water quality, and NRCS contract assistance.
